As you may know, the Death Comes to Tyrion storyline was created to fit an adventure of one of my characters into the Halloween Cameo Caper for 2012. The Cameo Caper is an annual webcomics event in which characters from different webcomics mingle at a set location and on Halloween, the creators post a big page including cameo appearances by multiple characters from the Caper on their own webcomics sites. It's been held every year since 2006. Aggie took part in 2011. I took part in 2012, but what with work and the slow pace of my production (I'm working on it), I, er, got behind.

The Caper is by now a minor webcomics tradition. But for the past few years, it's had a bit of a problem. See, the guy running it, Hogan, has a similar workload to mine, and so when it came to running the forums where sign-up and preparations are done, he couldn't handle the daily influx of spam or babysitting and updating the forum daily. So the forum now handles new registrations on the basis of "email me first", which makes adding new members a slow and cumbersome process. The result: year on year, we keep seeing the same faces in the Cameo, and as veteran cartoonists drop out, they aren't replaced. We need some new people to join in the fun!

This year, we're trying something different. Hogan, Aggie and I, among others, will be hanging out at the IRC site, channel #webcomics while working on our comics. If you are interested in taking part in the Caper, let us know!

My own participation this year will be limited to making characters available for use, and maybe a short section like the image from Aggie above.

I do, however, have two partially inked Abúi's Travels pages in the pipeline, and about five more storyboarded out.

I'll be traveling this week, so I won't be able to work on Abúi's Travels. To tide you over, here's a fan art by The Beholder of the webcomic The Beholder. Our all-seeing one has been a supporter of Abúi's Travels and Spun Off for a few years now, and there's more fan art by him in the pipeline.

Abúi by Donna Barr

Donna Barr made me this iPad drawing of Abúi as a thank-you for a small favour I did her. I love the mischief in her eyes and her general take on the character. Both through the image and her discussion of the comic, she's given me some new ideas on where the comic and its lead could go.

Donna is a veteran comic artist and the creative genius behind The Desert Peach. Stinz, Afterdead, as well as her new comic on Comicfury, Rental Goddess.
