Panel 1:
Aléas hugs Fflewaelin, who doesn't exactly mind but is distracted.
Aléas: Ppor boy! Did it hurt?
Fflewaelin: Oh! Er… Yeah, a bit!

Panel 2:
Sash bends forward over the rune stone, to look at it more closely. Neive is conerned.
Sash: It must be more than 200 years old! How does it still work?
Neive: Careful!

Panel 3:
The rune stone flashes. Everyone backs off.
SFX: FFFffrzt!

Panel 4:
Everyone covers their eyes except Aléas, who stands between the stone and Fflewaelin, and Fflewaelin himself. The rune stone smokes and now shows triple images of itself, and of Fflewaelin's sacred fork.
Sash: Oof, that smarts!
Aléas: The fork! Get the fork!

Panel 5:
Sash, shielding her eyes with her gloved hand, tries to get to the fork with a twig. The others tell her where she needs to be.
Aléas: To your left!
Neive: Almost there!
Fflewaelin: A little more!

Even at this late stage, the characters still manage to surprise me. Aléas is as affectionate and caring as we've ever seen her towards the half-goblin Fflewaelin.

The anti-goblin ward is effective enough but another complication is that Fflewaelin's Sacred Fork, which is setting it off, is made of iron. So Fflewaelin can't get near the ward without getting zapped even harder than the faeries, and the faeries can't directly handle the fork. Luckily, Sash the squirrel-wrangler is brave and as well-protected as these faeries will ever be.
